Day Trip to Ouarzazate & Ait Benhaddou

Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The route climbs through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 metres), the highest road pass in North Africa. You’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views with photo stops along the way.

Arrive at the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a traditional fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site. Built from clay and straw, this ancient ksar has appeared in countless international productions. Enjoy a guided walk through the kasbah, explore its ancient architecture, and learn about Berber culture. Climb to the top for spectacular views over the surrounding landscape.

Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you will have free time to discover the city and admire the exterior of the famous Atlas Film Studios. You’ll also visit the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the largest and best-preserved kasbahs in Morocco.

Stop for lunch at a recommended local restaurant (not included). In the mid-afternoon, begin your return journey across the High Atlas, arriving back in Marrakech in the evening with drop-off at your accommodation.
