2 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Merzouga

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Your private tour begins with an early morning departure from your accommodation in Fes As you leave the imperial city behind you’ll travel through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains making your first stop in Ifrane a charming town known for its alpine-style architecture clean streets and beautiful parks. Often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” Ifrane offers a refreshing introduction to your desert adventure.

Continue through the famous Cedar Forest of Azrou home to the wild Barbary macaques. Enjoy a short walk among the cedar trees and take memorable photos before continuing south through mountain villages and breathtaking landscapes. After a lunch stop in Midelt the journey continues across the spectacular Ziz Valley where thousands of palm trees stretch across one of Morocco’s largest oases. Stop at panoramic viewpoints to admire the scenery before arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon.

Upon arrival begin an unforgettable camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Pause on top of the dunes to witness a magical Sahara sunset before continuing to your luxury desert camp. After a traditional Moroccan dinner enjoy live Berber music around the campfire while gazing at the brilliant desert stars before spending the night in your private tent.

Day 2: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara Desert a magical moment that makes the early start worthwhile. After breakfast and a refreshing shower at the camp, return to Merzouga by camel or comfortable 4×4 vehicle, where your driver will be waiting to continue your journey toward Fes.

Travel through the beautiful Ziz Valley one of Morocco’s largest palm oases, offering stunning panoramic views of thousands of date palms stretching across the valley floor Continue through Erfoud and Midelt, enjoying the ever-changing scenery from desert landscapes to the green mountains of the Middle Atlas.

In the afternoon, stop at the famous Cedar Forest of Azrou home to Morocco’s playful Barbary macaques. Here you’ll have time to stretch your legs take photos and observe the monkeys in their natural habitat. Before reaching your final destination, visit the charming alpine town of Ifrane, known for its European-style architecture clean streets and pleasant climate, earning it the nickname “The Switzerland of Morocco”.

Out of this world
Words can’t even describe how this whole trip has been. From the very start Youssif was on time, matter of fact he was waiting for us and he welcomed us with open arms. We stayed with him for about two and half weeks and did everything from sleeping in the middle of the desert, riding camels, atvs, out of this world views and amazing places to eat everything single time. I think god for Youssif being our tour guide because we come here every two years and will use him every single time.
