4 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech
    Tour Details

Marrakech to Merzouga and back in 4 days is the sweet spot for exploring southern Morocco. It’s long enough to actually stop at places rather than just drive past them—and short enough to still feel like a focused, coherent adventure.

This tour gives you two nights in the Sahara with a full exploration day in the dunes, two sunsets, two sunrises, and one full day where you’re not stuck in a vehicle—which makes the whole trip feel less like a race and more like an actual desert experience.

You’ll cross the High Atlas, visit UNESCO-listed kasbahs, walk through dramatic gorges, ride camels across golden dunes, and return via the scenic Draa Valley.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

4 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech

Is a 2-day tour enough time to see the desert?

It’s the minimum itinerary that still puts you in the Sahara overnight. However, it involves two very long driving days—around 9 hours each way. You’ll have about an hour on the camel at sunset and sunrise, plus the night in the camp. If you have three or more days available, the 3-day version offers a more relaxed pace with time to explore the region properly.

How should I pack for this fast-paced tour?

Since you’ll only have one night in the desert and your main luggage stays in the vehicle, pack a small day-bag with overnight essentials. Bring warm layers for the chilly desert night, comfortable trousers for the camel ride, sunscreen, sunglasses, a scarf for sand protection, and a headlamp or phone flashlight. Be prepared for long days in the vehicle—download podcasts or bring a book.

What happens to my luggage during the camel trek?

Your main luggage (suitcases or large backpacks) remains locked and securely stored inside the vehicle. The driver-guide stays with the vehicle at the edge of the dunes in Merzouga while you ride into the camp. You only need a small overnight bag with essentials for the night

What are the driving conditions like?

The route covers approximately 560 km on Day 1 alone—mostly winding mountain roads and desert highways. The Tizi n’Tichka pass is a dramatic but winding road with hairpin turns. If you’re prone to motion sickness, consider medication. The journey is long but the ever-changing landscapes—from snow-capped peaks to palm oases to golden dunes—make time pass quickly.
