Day Trip to Imlil Hiking

Day 1: Marrakech – Tahnaout – Asni – Imlil – Aroumd – Marrakech

Your mountain adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, typically between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM. You’ll travel in an air-conditioned vehicle through the scenic countryside, passing traditional Berber villages and beautiful valleys.

The first stop is the village of Asni, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. From there, continue to Imlil (1,740 metres), the gateway to Toubkal National Park. Upon arrival, meet your local Berber guide, who will lead you through the day’s activities.

Set off on a guided hike that lasts 2–3 hours, tailored to your fitness level. The trails offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, passing through traditional Berber villages, terraced fields, and walnut groves. Your guide will share insights about the flora, fauna, and local traditions.

For those seeking a more challenging experience, you can continue the hike to the Isk Summit at 2,500 metres for even more spectacular views. Alternatively, a shorter route takes you to the beautiful Imlil waterfall before reaching the traditional village of Aroumd.

After your hike, relax and enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at a local guesthouse, featuring a selection of Moroccan salads, a delicious tagine or couscous, seasonal fruit or pastries, and mint tea.

Before returning to Marrakech, stop at a women’s Argan oil cooperative to learn how Morocco’s famous oil is made traditionally. Leave Imlil around 4:00 PM and enjoy the scenic drive back to Marrakech, arriving by approximately 6:00 PM, with drop-off at your accommodation.
